WEIR -- James R. Wilson, Jr., 88 of Weir, KS died, Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center. He had been in failing health for the past year. He was born September 25, 1921 in Russellville, AL the son of James R. Wilson, Sr. and Rhoda Evelyn (Quillin) Wilson. On October 3rd, 1942 he was united in marriage to Bette Jean Cram in Joplin, MO, she preceded him in death on February 10th, 1994. He entered the U.S. Army in 1940 and was honorably discharged in 1945, he re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1948 where he honorably served until 1951. He was a member of the Lighthouse Tabernacle in Pittsburg. James was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post number 64 and the SEK Humane Society. He was a ham radio operator, W0RRL for many years and was a member of the MARS program (Military Affiliated Radio System) for 25 years.
